A Six Decade Journey To Fulfill The Dream Of Seeing The World
As a young girl growing up in the Philippines, Luisa was inspired by the American Westerns on TV, which inspired her to travel to the US. Luisa, in this moderated conversation, will share her journey to every country in the world over six decades. She shares how her determination and grit allowed her to overcome the obstacles laid out in front of her. She visited her last country, Serbia, in 2024. Best of all, despite having completed her goal, Luisa is still travelling with recent visits to the North Caucasus and the Kalash Festival in Pakistan.
BIO
Luisa Yu was born in the 1940s in Leyte, Philippines. She emigrated to the US in her 20s as an exchange student to pursue her dual dreams of economic opportunity as well as her passion for travel which had been inspired by Hollywood. Initially for many years, she explored the United States. Upon receiving her Green Card this allowed her the opportunity to finally explore the world outside of the US. Luisa was determined to travel as much as possible from at times holding down three different jobs, holding a real estate license, and then eventually working as a travel agent which opened further doors. At the age of 79, she finally reached her goal of traveling to every country in the world.
